Manuel de Normes de Prise en Charge Clinique et Thérapeutique des Adultes et Adolescents Vivant avec le VIH
Treatment Guidelines, Haiti
Haiti's national HIV treatment guidelines document was published in 2008. This document presents a national approach that integrates the principles of ART for adults and adolescents. Treatment criteria include CD4 counts below 200, CD4 counts below 350 if patient is in WHO clinical stage 3 or 4 of the disease. The first line regimens of ART for adults are based on the combination of three of the drugs: TDFor AZT or 3TC + FTC or 3TC + EFV or NVP. Treatment regimens for infants and children are based on AZT, 3TC, EFV or NVP. These guidelines also recommend a second-line LVP/r treatment regimen should first line treatment fail. Post-exposure prophylaxis, cotrimoxazole prophylaxis, prophylaxis and treatment of opportunistic infections, and co-infection with TB are also included in this document.
