HIV Prevention, Care, and Treatment for MSM and TG in Asia
From August 28-30, 2012, the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief’s (PEPFAR) most-at-risk populations technical working group, with additional support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), conducted a regional workshop in Bangkok, Thailand on HIV Prevention among Men Who Have Sex with Men (MSM) and Transgendered Persons (TG) in Asia. The workshop brought together 82 participants from 19 countries to provide a forum to disseminate the 2011 PEPFAR Technical Guidance for Combination Prevention for MSM. This venue also allowed implementers to share state-of-the art knowledge on relevant topics in HIV/AIDS prevention among MSM and TG for practitioners, health service managers, civil society and community. The presenters focused on some of the challenges that drive the HIV epidemic among MSM and TG and discussed interventions to create a more effective response to the HIV epidemic among these populations in the Asian context.
Presentations from and a summary report of the technical consultation are available for download below.
