HIV Rapid Testing-Rapid Results: Increasing Access to HIV Testing, Results, and Services

Description:

In settings where HIV Testing and Counseling (HTC) is provided, HIV rapid testing (RT) allows for HTC to be more readily accessible with faster results, helps ensure that those tested receive their results, and allows informed decision-making by both providers and patients. Despite benefits of utilizing HIV RT at the point-of-care, implementation barriers remain.

An HIV Rapid Testing Technical Consultation for the Asia region is being held in Thailand which aims to:

• Review the use of HIV rapid tests, focusing on program successes, challenges, and barriers
• Promote the expansion of high quality HIV RT at the point-of-care based on successful programs in the field
• Address issues of quality, standardization, and identification of support needed to improve and expand HIV RT in the Asia region
